How to play
Just like the hand game: shake, shake, shake, throw. The app has an animated how-to under the ? button.
- Hold the phone upright on its edge in your fist: its narrow side toward you, the screen facing sideways.
- Shake it 3 times, at your own pace. Each shake clicks and lights a dot.
- A tone plays where your 4th shake would land. Throw on it with a twist of the forearm: hold still for rock, twist right (the top tips right) for paper, twist left for scissors.
Common questions
It says "Too slow". It didn't count 3 shakes in time. Shake firmly, up and down. A pause of more than about a second and a half starts the count again.
It counted fewer shakes than I made. Very small shakes don't count, so the phone can tell a shake from a bump. Shake a bit harder.
Paper and scissors come out swapped. The phone can't tell which way its screen faces, so it learns your twist: in Settings, tap "Teach the paper twist" and twist right once. "Flip twist direction" swaps them too.
The tone feels late. Bluetooth headphones and speakers delay sound. Play through the phone's own speaker.
How do multiplayer games work? Everyone shakes at their own pace. Each round, the winning shape stays in and everyone else is out. If all three shapes come up in groups of different sizes, each group sends one representative to a run-off, and the groups whose representative wins stay in. Equal groups are a tie and the round is played again. The last player in is the champion.
